5. RELEASE THE SCHOOLS

RESEARCH AND EDUCATION: A liberal education policy means more freedom for pupils, teachers and schools. The result will be an education system with diversity. Knowledge is power, and the power is to belong to everyone. Young Liberals want everyone to have the same right and opportunity to education. The training is meant to make the pupils able to function and participate as citizens in a democratic society. To achieve this, training basis skills is a necessity, but pupils must also learn about democracy through information and participation. It is a paradox that pupils are thought about democracy in an institution that can be experienced as undemocratic.

6. THE CREATIVE MAN

A DYNAMIC CULTURAL LIFE: The basis of a liberal culture policy is diversity and freedom of choice. Everyone shall have the opportunity to create and take part of cultural life. Culture stimulates imagination, helps develop creativity and creates engagement and participation. A free and active cultural life is a strength to democracy and civil society. The authorities are not to restrict culture, but stimulate and encourage it. It is important to protect the independency of culture, also in the cases where public support is necessary to maintain a cultural scene. It is a public responsibility to ensure variety and quality in cultural life.

7. SEEKING FORTUNE SOMEWHERE ELSE

To liberals, boundaries between people are never of the good, no matter if they are geographical, ethnical, linguistical or social. Open borders make states economically and politically dependent on each other. This decreases the threat of war, dictatorships, oppression and other conflicts.

8. A WORLD WITHOUT LIMITS

NORWAY AND THE WORLD COMMUNITY: All men have equal rights to liberty and to be able to make a good life for themselves. The liberal view of man is that all men are of equal value, independent of background. Liberalism knows no frontiers, and liberal international politics therefore involves fighting for the individual's right and against forces that promote the interests of states on the expense of these. A liberal international policy is incompatible with the idea that the national state alone can define the rights of its citizens.
